Brooklyn trip updates:

Saturday:

Slept in, sent LAST PAPER to Brian Reed (all fourteen pages and five page bibliography). Then it snowed five billion inches. Snuggled a lot with my cat. We watched Elf, went to bed.

Sunday:

Slept in, ate bacon and eggs with Peter and Casey (dad’s roommates). Read more Pride and Prejudice. Went shopping with Casey (bought dad a [DAD IF YOU’RE READING THIS STOP READING IT NOW ALTHOUGH I FIND IT UNLIKELY FOR YOU TO BE READING THIS—UNLESS YOU’RE READING THIS AFTER CHRISTMAS IN WHICH CASE DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT] robe which was actually from the ladies department but you really can’t tell). Then we saw Avatar 3D and, as Jeremy put it, it was basically Star Wars + Fern Gully. Which is not to say that it wasn’t worth watching. It was. Ate pizza. Drank Chianti. Drank milk from Chianti glass. Will now read more Pride and Prejudice, probably watch Pierrot Le Fou.

I’ve been reading these stories about Richard Brautigan by his close friend Greg Keeler. They’re depressing and fascinating. They make me feel even more tender towards Brautigan. He’s one of those authors that I can’t get enough of.

Thursday:

Flew in from Seattle after working a morning shift (kill me). Meet dad at his apartment. Internetted on my dad’s computer.

“Politics run in the family, you know. My father was Mayor McCheese.” -Pops

We watch the Magic Bullet and Dual Cleanse (colon cleaning system) infomercials and laugh so hard my stomach hurts.

Friday:

“Brittany, can you make me pancakes? I’m sick. And my feet are cold. Pumpkin pancakes, please.” -Papa

“Oh Jasssmineee, you came and you gave without askingggg…” -Popz

We watch the Magic Bullet infomercial AGAIN.

I meet Jeremy at Rockefeller Center, see the tree and the skating rink. We see the Georgia O’Keefe exhibit at the Whitney. We part ways and I go alone to the Super Machine reading series—Joshua Beckman (my summer internship boss) is reading. He’s surprised to see me, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he thinks I followed him there from Seattle. Dottie Lasky is also there, and she is just as warm and friendly as when I first met her; honestly, I’m surprised she recognized me. She gave me her email and I hope we continue to correspond. Went home. Read more Pride and Prejudice. Went to bed.
